Fix a Paper Jam on the HP Officejet Pro 8710 Printer:
Method 1 : Take Out the Jammed Paper from the Printer
Clearing jammed papers from the printer is not about only one section of the printer. You have to clear the paper jams from input tray to automatic document feeder to fix a paper jam on the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer.
Clear Jammed Papers from Input Tray
- Firstly remove the paper if any and pull the input tray out.
- Remove the jammed paper gently from input tray area in order to avoid any damage to the paper.
- Insert back the input tray in the printer and lastly check by printing the pages.
Clear Jammed Papers from the Ink Cartridge Access Area
- Turn the printer off and remove all the cables including power cable.
- On the left side of the printer, place your fingers on the slot and pull to open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait till the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
- Move the cartridge to left or right side of the printer once the carriage is being silent. Pull the papers out gently to avoid the paper from tearing. (Use flashlight).
- Close the ink cartridge access door.
- Reconnect all the cables to the printer including power cable and turn it on.
- Lastly print the pages to check if the issue still exists.
Clear Jammed Papers From the Automatic Document Feeder
- Lift the cover of automatic document feeder.
- Lift the document feeder tab from the side.
- Check the rollers to remove any jammed papers.
- Close the automatic document feeder cover tightly from both the ends.
Clear Jammed Papers from the Back Side of the Printer
- Turn the printer off and remove all the cables including power cable.
- Turn your printer in such a way that it’s access door faces you.
- The access door on the back side, press the two tabs inwards and lower the rear access door to open it and then remove any jammed paper.
- Press the two buttons inward on the paper path cover, and then pull the cover out of the printer.
- Pull the papers out gently to avoid the paper from tearing.
- Remove all the torn bits of paper from the back side of the printer.
- Insert back the paper path cover.
- Close the access door at the back side of the printer Reconnect all the cables to the printer including power cable and turn it on.
- Lastly print the pages to check if the issue still exists.
Method 2 : Ensure that the Carriage has a Movement
- Turn the printer ON.
- On the left side of the printer, place your fingers on the slot and pull to open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait till the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
- Keep the printer ON and disconnect the power cables from the back side.
- Remove all the torn bits of paper or any other objects from the back side of the printer
- Through ink cartridge access door on the back side then,
- Move the cartridge to the right if its stuck on the left side.
- Move the cartridge to the left if its stuck on the right side.
- Move the cartridge to the right if its stuck on the middle.
- Remove loose paper if any.
- Check to ensure that the cartridge can move freely across the width by firmly pushing it to the left first and then to the right.
- Close the ink cartridge access door and reconnect the cables to your printer.
- Lastly print the pages to check if the issue still exists.
Method 3 : Clean the Paper Feed Rollers
- Dust, paper fiber, and other objects get accumulated on the paper feed rollers resulting in paper jams and paper feed issues. Clean the rollers inside the printer, and then try to print again. Below are the few steps to fix a paper jam on the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer.
- Clean the rollers from the ink cartridge access area.
- Clean the rollers from back side of printer.
- Clean the rollers in automatic document feeder (ADF).
Method 4 : Reboot the Printer
- Keep the printer ON and disconnect the power cables from the printer.
- Disconnect the power cable from the power source and wait till 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable to the source and switch the printer ON.
- Lastly print the pages to check if the issue still exists In order to fix a paper jam on the HP Officejet Pro 8710 printer.
