In case you are not able to perform an automatic update, then that means that the drivers on your system are corrupt and they need to be downloaded from the manufacturer directly.
It is not advisable for you to use this solution to fix HP laptop touchpad not working problem if you are uncomfortable with installing and downloading new files on your system.
We advise you to download and run driver support and the software will search for all the files which are missing and corrupted. Furthermore, the software will update those files for you. In addition to that, it will keep your system updated so that you don’t come across this problem again.
In case the external mouse also doesn’t work, then this is a clear indication that the touchpad issue is happening because of the driver. Therefore, you should allow the software program to work. Paste the driver update files from another system to your pen drive.
This way you won’t have to surf on the internet using the tab button. These are the steps that you need to carry out for manual installation of the drivers.After that, you need to carry out the same steps that you did in automatic driver update.
Another way to fix this touchpad problem is to go to settings and enable the touchpad manually. Press the I key and Windows key together at the same time.
Select Devices and then go to Touchpad. After that, you need to go to the option of “Additional Settings” and then launch the Settings box of trackpad.
Then, turn on HP touchpad settings.
